Creating a data room

Setup a new data room to store and share documents

Create a data room to organise and manage documents within a matter. Once created, you can set up the folder structure, apply permissions, and share it with other users.

Prerequisite: You must be a matter admin to create a data room.


How to create a data room

  1. Open the relevant matter

  2. Click the Create button in the navigation bar

  3. Select Data room from the dropdown menu

  4. Enter a name for the data room

  5. Click Create data room

Your data room will be created. Once created, it will open in a new, empty screen where you can start adding folders and documents.

Good to know: Only matter admins can see the data room when it's created. To make it visible to others, change the data room permissions


What happens next

After creating a data room, you can:

  • Build the folder structure (manually or via import)

  • Apply permissions to control who can access the data room

  • Upload documents when you’re ready

Tip: To keep the data room private while setting it up, apply permissions only once the structure is in place
