Navigating a binder

Discover how to navigate binders efficiently to get what you need

Updated over a month ago

Navigating a binder efficiently helps you find documents faster and understand what actions are available to you. Whether you're reviewing key documents, checking for completeness, or preparing for export, this guide walks through binders and offers tips to help you get the most out of your binder experience.

Good to know: What you can see and do depends on the binder permission you've been given

Searching for documents and sections

Note: Ctrl + F only searches the visible portion of the binder, not the entire binder. To search the entire binder, use the searching outlined below.

Use the search bar at the top of the binder to quickly find sections or documents. It stays fixed as you scroll, and searching begins automatically after typing at least one character.

Search results appear in a drop-down and include:

  • Section and file names (case-insensitive)

  • Section paths (for nested items)

  • Ordering based on their position in the binder

Selecting a result scrolls to it, expands any closed sections, and briefly highlights the item. You can clear the results by pressing Esc, clicking the β€œx”, or deleting the text. Clicking outside the drop-down closes it but keeps your search term.

Table of contents

This lets you see the binder structure in a compact way, helping you get to where you need without excessive scrolling. To use it:

  1. Click the navigation icon in the top left of the binder

  2. A panel will appear, displaying the sections and documents in the binder

  3. Click on any element to navigate directly to it's location in the binder
