"Roles" are a way to group different organisations in your transaction.

Examples of roles you may have are:

Buyer

All the organisations involved on the "buy-side" of the transaction

Seller

All the organisations involved on the "sell-side" of the transaction

Lender

All the organisations involved on the "lender" side of the transaction

Borrower

All the organisations involved on the "borrower" side of the transaction

Lawyers

All the lawyers on the transaction

✔️ You may instead include the lawyers in a different role. It's up to you!

Adding roles when setting up your matter

  1. Click on 'Manage matter' at the top right-hand side of your screen and select 'Participants' on the dropdown.

  2. The 'Participants' page will now appear. The Matter Administrator permission is automatically assigned to the organisation with the user that opened the matter.

For more information on this role, please read the 'Matter Administrator' article.

  3. To add further roles, click on '+ Create new role' at the bottom of the screen.

  4. You should then type in the name of the role you would like to create under 'Role name'. Then click on 'Create role'.

⚠️The existence and names of roles can't be hidden. Please ensure the role name does not contain any confidential information.

  5. The role will now appear with a box beneath it suggesting to 'Add new organisation' to the role. See the article on 'Organisations' for more information on this.

Renaming the role

Hover over the role and click on the "edit" icon that appears.

Deleting the role

⚠️ Deleting a role will delete all organisations in the role, and the users in the organisations.

  1. Hover over the role and click on the "delete" icon that appears.

2. Confirm to delete the role by typing "DELETE ROLE" then press the 'Delete role' button.
