File permissions allow you to restrict which matter participants can view, manage or upload files to a list. This gives you more control over uploaded files and ensures that participants can only access what they need to.

In this article:

Manage permissions for the whole file column

⚠️ Important: If a participant has Edit list permissions, this will override any permissions you apply to the comments column.

You can restrict file permissions for a whole file column by following the steps below:

  1. Hover over a file column, click on the cog icon and select 'Permissions'.

  2. Select or deselect checkboxes under each permission column, such as 'view', to manage which participants have certain permissions.

  3. To give all participants a permission, select the 'global' checkbox.

Remember to press 'save' to apply any changes that you have made.

Certain files uploaded to a column may need to be restricted.

  1. Click to add a new file or drag and drop a file in the file column.

  2. Click on 'Permissions' to change permissions.

  3. Select or deselect the checkboxes beside participants in the pop-up to choose who can view the version you are uploading. Remember to press 'save' to make any changes live.
