Comment permissions allow you to restrict which matter participants can view, manage or add comments to your list.

In this article:

Manage permissions for an entire comments column

⚠️ IMPORTANT: If a participant has the "Edit list" permission, this will override any permissions you apply to the comments column.

You can restrict comment permissions for the whole column by following the steps below:

  1. Click on the cog icon besides the Comments column.

  2. Click on 'Permissions' from the drop-down.

  3. Use the pop-up to give or restrict the ability for participants to view, manage and add comments by ticking or unticking the relevant checkbox.

  4. Remember to click 'Save' after making any changes.

Permissions in comments column

The table below shows all the permissions available for a comments column and what participants can do if these permissions are ticked or not.

  • delete any comments in this column.

Edit own

Participants can:

  • edit comments made by themselves or uploaded by others in their organisation and;

Change permissions

If participants also have 'edit all' access, they can change permissions for all comments in the column.

If participants also have 'add comment' access they can set permissions on any comments they add.

Add comment

Participants can add a comment.

Manage permissions for individual comments

  1. Enter the comment and click on the lock icon to change the permissions.

  2. Select or deselect the checkboxes beside participants in the pop-up to choose who can view the comment you are adding. Remember to press 'save' to make any changes live.
