Comment permissions allow you to restrict which matter participants can view, manage or add comments to your list.

Manage permissions for an entire comments column
⚠️ IMPORTANT: If a participant has the "Edit list" permission, this will override any permissions you apply to the comments column.
You can restrict comment permissions for the whole column by following the steps below:
Click on the cog icon beside the "Comments" column.
Click on 'Permissions' from the drop-down.
Use the pop-up to give or restrict the ability for participants to view, manage and add comments by ticking or unticking the relevant checkbox.
Remember to click 'Save' after making any changes.
Permissions in comments column
The table below shows all the permissions available for a comments column and what participants can do if these permissions are ticked or not.
Permission | Functionality |
View | This will allow the participants ticked to view the comments column. |
Edit all | Participants can:

Edit own | Participants can:
|
Change permissions | If participants also have 'edit all' access, they can change permissions for all comments in the column. |
Add comment | Participants can add a comment. |
Manage permissions for individual comments
Enter the comment and click on the "padlock" icon to change the permissions.
Select or deselect the checkboxes beside participants in the pop-up to choose who can view the comment you are adding. Remember to press 'save' to make any changes live.
⚠️ Matter administrators can't be restricted from seeing comments
You can change who can view a comment at any time by clicking on the padlock icon and selecting or deselecting the relevant participants.
