Reviewing permissions in your matter

Learn how to use 'masquerade' mode to view matters as another organisation or user, ensuring permissions are correctly applied

Updated over 2 weeks ago

As a matter administrator in Legatics, it's crucial to ensure that permissions are correctly set for all participants. The "masquerade" or "view as" mode allows you to view a matter as another organisation or user, helping you verify that permissions are applied as intended. This feature enhances transparency and ensures that each participant has appropriate access.

Prerequisites: You're a Matter Admin

How to 'view as' another organisation or user

  1. Click the eye icon in the top navigation bar of your matter

  2. From the dropdown, select the organisation or user you want to impersonate

  3. Click View as to activate the 'masquerade' mode

A banner will appear, indicating that you are viewing the matter as the selected participant.

You can now navigate through the matter to ensure that lists, columns, rows, and file permissions are correctly applied for the selected organisation or user.

Tip: While in 'masquerade' mode, you cannot make any changes. This restriction prevents actions from being taken on behalf of other organisations or users.

How to stop viewing as another organisation or user

  • In the banner, click Return to your view of the matter

  • You will revert to your original view and regain full access to make changes

Other ways to check permissions

When permissions are applied in your matter, a red padlock is shown on the object you applied permissions to (eg the row). This is helpful to visually see what objects have specific permissions applied to them.
