It provides Matter Admins with the ability to control access and editing rights for documents required to sign. This feature is useful for ensuring that only authorized users can make changes, enhancing security, and maintaining the integrity of the signing process.

Users should utilize this guide to effectively manage who can view, edit, and sign documents, ensuring a smooth and secure workflow.

Permissions available

For each permission, documents are only visible to the user if they have permission to see that document in the list view.

For example, if you hide a row from a user, then grant them the "view signing" or "edit signing" permission, no documents in that row will be visible in the signing view.

Permissions

What this does

View signing

✔️ Users with this permission can't take any actions. It's strictly view-only

Allows the user to see, in the signing view:

  • Each document marked for signing (provided they've got permission to see that document in the signing view)

  • The signing status of the document

  • The parties/signatories added to the document

Edit signing

✔️ Users with this permission can take any actions, but only on documents they're allowed to see

❌ The only exception to this is DocuSign. DocuSign functionality is only available to users who belong to the customer who set up the matter.

See our articles on signing documents to understand what actions can be taken.

How to set permissions for the signing view

  • Make sure you are in the signing view.

  • Click on the padlock icon.

  • Once the pop-up opens, scroll across until you can see the columns "View signing" and "Edit signing".

  • Select the permissions you want to apply to each organisation.

Tip: By default, only organisations with matter administrator rights will be able to view and edit documents in the signing view.

  • Click "Save".
