Learn how System Admins can access and review matters in a read-only mode to stay informed without administrative permissions

The "View Matter" allows System Admins to access any matter in a read-only mode, providing visibility into matter details without requiring Matter Admin rights. This functionality ensures that System Admins remain informed about all matters within the system while maintaining data integrity and security.


Viewing a specific matter

  1. Go to the matters page

  2. Find the matter you want to view

  3. Click on the three dots, and select View matter

The matter will open in a new tab in read-only

Tips:

  • You can't currently filter or search for matters

  • But you can use ctl+f to search through all the data in the page (this won't search across paginated pages).

  • The table is sorted by newest creation date > oldest creation date. This can help to pinpoint the page to look for.

Good to know: When you view a matter, the audit trail in the:

  • Admin System records that you viewed the matter (together with details about the matter you viewed)

  • Matter will record what you view in the matter (the words "system admin" is added after your name).


Limitations

  • One matter at a time: You can only view one matter at a time. If you try to view multiple matters, you'll run into errors. So, before you view another matter, make sure you close the tab containing the matter you're viewing!

  • View as matter admin: When you view the matter, you view it as a matter admin. You can't view it as another participant.
