As a System Administrator, you've got control over what your users can do in Legatics. This control is important, as each permission gives different access to data!
What does this feature do?
It allows you to grant one or more of the below permissions to a Member:
Template Administrator: This allows the Member to manage matter templates and list templates.
System Administrator: This allows the Member to manage the admin system (excluding matter templates and list templates).
Every Member can create matters. This permission can't be revoked from a Member.
When you change the permission of a Member, the audit trail in the Admin System records the change.
Best practice
These permissions (in particular, the System Admin permission) give lots of control over matters and users. We recommend following these best practices:
Regular Audits: Conduct regular audits of user permissions to ensure they align with organisational needs. Remove unnecessary permissions to reduce potential security risks.
Documentation: Maintain clear documentation of roles and permissions. This documentation should include the responsibilities associated with each role and the corresponding permissions.
Our Users Report specifies the permissions granted to every Member. This is a great way to easily and quickly see the permissions granted to Members.
How do I use it?
Step 1: Click "Users" in the sidebar
Step 2: In the "Members" tab, find the user and click on the drop-down in the "permission" column
You currently can't filter or search for users (learn why here).
The table is sorted by user name (A > Z). This can help to pinpoint the page to look for. You can also use ctl+f to search through all the data in the page (this won't search across paginated pages).
If you can't find a user, then that's likely because they:
don't have an account;
have been deactivated; or
aren't yet assigned to you as a Member
Step 3: Select the permission you want to change for the Member
Once you select/deselect the checkbox, the change will be saved.
The user may need to refresh Legatics to see the change!
