Understand the types of email notifications you may receive from Legatics

Legatics sends a variety of email notifications to keep users informed about updates, actions, and account management tasks. This article explains the different email triggers and when you can expect to receive them, helping you stay up-to-date and secure within the platform.

Matter emails

These emails keep you informed about updates and actions related to the matters you’re involved in.

Status assignment summary

This email is triggered when you're assigned to a status in a matter (or the organisation or role you're part of is assigned to a status). It provides a summary, across all matters you've got access to, of statuses assigned to you in those matters since your last email.

Tip: If your email doesn't include updates for certain matters, it's likely because:

  1. you're assigned to statuses but don't have permission to view the list, row, or section where the status is set

Invites to matters

These emails are triggered when you're invited to join a matter by a matter administrator. They contain a link to access the platform and details about the matter.

Tip: Store these in a folder in your email platform. They're helpful to find your way back to the matter.

User has account

If you already have an account, you'll get this email:

If you don't have an account, you'll get this email:


Standard account emails

These emails provide important updates regarding your Legatics account, such as password resets, account creation, and login security. These notifications help you manage your account securely and efficiently.

Create account

This email is triggered when your account is created from the log in screen. It contains a link to set up your password and complete your account registration.

Tip: This link is only active for 1 hour. If it's expired, you'll need to reset your password to restart the process.

Create account when already have account

This email is triggered if you already have an account on the instance, and you try to create one from the log-in screen. It reminds you that your account is active and suggesting that you reset your password.

Reset password

This email is triggered when you request a password reset for an active Legatics account. It includes a secure link to update your password.

Tip: This link is only active for 1 hour. If it's expired, you'll need to reset your password again to get a new link.

Reset password when you don't have an account

This email is triggered if you request a password reset, but you haven't created an account yet (if you can created an account). This email informs you that no account exists for that email address and suggests creating an account.

Reset password when you haven't completed account registration

This email is triggered if you request a password reset but haven’t completed your account registration. It provides instructions to complete your registration.

Two factor email code

This email is triggered every time you log into the platform (except when you're logging in with SSO). It provides the code you need to continue with log-in.

Tip: This code is only valid for 5 minutes

Note: It isn't currently possible to skip this code. You need to enter it for every log-in.


Administration system emails

Note: You'll only get these emails if you're a System Administrator

Matter created

This email is triggered when a new matter is created. It contains helpful information about the matter.

Matter binned

This email is triggered when a matter is moved to the bin. It serves as a notification of this action for auditing and awareness.
