18 December 2024

Fixed a bug requiring iManage to sometimes be opened twice from Legatics for the file picker to function properly.

26 November 2024

Enhancing platform performance and reliability

We’ve made important updates to the underlying technology that powers Legatics. These changes improve the platform’s speed, reliability, and security, ensuring it remains robust as we grow and evolve.

Behind the scenes, we've upgraded our framework, streamlined authentication, and enhanced logging capabilities to better support your experience and keep things running smoothly. While these updates are technical, they play a big role in making Legatics faster and more dependable for all users.

Docusign signing order

When a DocuSign envelope is created from Legatics, the signing order will automatically be enabled if "Enable signing order by default" is selected in your DocuSign settings.

Small improvements

  • Faster loading of pages: When creating signature packs, matching signature pages, or collating documents, you’ll notice faster page loading times. We’ve optimized the underlying code to enhance performance.

  • Support details in 500 page: A "500" page indicates an issue on our end. We've enhanced this page with additional details that you can send us to help us quickly identify and resolve the problem for you.

Bug fixes

  • Resolved an issue where landscape pages didn’t display correctly when matching signed pages.

  • Addressed a problem where large files didn’t consistently upload from iManage.

  • Resolved an issue where expired, incomplete DocuSign envelopes weren’t correctly updating their status in Legatics.

  • Fixed a bug when sending lots of documents to DocuSign didn't always work

30 October 2024

Small improvements

  • Fixed an issue where the status of a signed file didn't always change to "matched" when signature pages were assigned to it

  • Improved the text that appears in the app 2FA screen

17 September 2024

Forget about keeping signed pages in a "signed files" folder and then merging them with documents on Adobe Acrobat. With our new Collate feature, you can effortlessly upload signed pages and collate them into your final document, all in just a few clicks. This new feature will simplify your wet-ink signature process!

Once you have your signed pages, seamlessly upload them into the platform. Our AI automatically detects the signature pages, allowing you to easily filter them with a simple toggle. From there, easily match the signed pages to the corresponding documents and signatories (or add them, if you didn’t already have them!).

Finally, once all signed pages are collected, collate them into the final document, annotate, reorder pages, and quickly export the collated file.

No more juggling messy folders, losing track of signed versions, or wasting time navigating between different softwares to insert pages. With everything done seamlessly within Legatics, you can manage your entire transaction in one place, with accuracy from start to finish.

For more details, watch our interactive demo.

Managing documents across platforms can be inefficient, time-consuming and even insecure, especially if files are downloaded to your local drive or shared over email.

With our new NetDocuments integration, transferring files from Legatics to NetDocuments (or vice versa) is easier than ever. Log into your NetDocuments account directly through Legatics and navigate your files with ease. Need to upload files from Legatics to NetDocuments? It’s a few clicks away. Want to export documents or lists back to NetDocuments? Done in no time.

For more details, watch our interactive demo.

The "My Matters" page has been redesigned with a cleaner, more intuitive interface. Now, at a glance, you can see key details like who is hosting the matter and when the last activity occurred.

You can now export your lists as an Excel spreadsheet! We’ve heard from you that Excel is often easier to work with, especially when dealing with a large number of columns, which can be cumbersome in Word or PDF.

You can now download all versions of a document when you export files to a zip (not just the latest version), making it easier to manage your documents.

You can now easily add hyperlinks in the free text and comment columns! Whether you're managing documents or directing colleagues to important resources, you can embed links directly. No more workarounds or losing track of important references.

Capturing the email body in DocuSign envelope histories

Legatics now automatically saves your email messages sent to recipients in the Envelope History we generate, ensuring a clear and complete audit trail. If your message includes signing instructions, they’ll never get lost, making it easy to provide your clients with a full record of the instructions whenever needed.

Improved context menu for actions on rows and sections

The actions you took on rows and sections were previously found by hovering over the “checkbox” of the row. We've improved this by adding a dedicated call to action button, that when clicked, opens an updated context menu. Making it easier to find what actions you can take on sections and rows.

Small improvements

  • Add column selection to file export when Word index is included

  • Clear cells in bulk edit

  • Included the name of the organisation the user belongs to in the comments column when exporting a list

  • Confirm free-text and comment entry by ctrl+enter

  • See text that's been truncated by hovering over it

  • Option to exclude rows that don't contain files when creating a binder

  • Highlight the row in the grid when a user clicks on a "location" link in the audit trail

  • Changed text of ‘bible’ to ‘binder’ for universal understanding

  • Improved the design of the settings page

  • Improved the design of the maintenance screen

  • Tidied up the design of the dashboard card

  • Tidied up the design of the register to create account screen

  • Changed the background image on the login screen and added helpful links

5 August 2024

Improved download approach

Previously, when downloading files, you would only see a "Saving" notification without any progress updates. And the file was saved to your default download folder only after it was fully downloaded.

Now, when you start a file download, you immediately choose where to save the file on your computer. You will see the download progress in the "Downloads" section of your browser. Plus, the download will continue even if you refresh the page!

15 May 2024

Get started faster with matter templates. Instead of starting from scratch every time you create a matter, use pre-designed templates created by your firm that are tailored to specific use cases. This will make setting up new matters so much easier, enabling you to dive straight into your work and streamline your workflow from the get-go.

If you're a template admin, you can now ensure consistency across matters by creating matter templates. They provide a structured foundation for lawyers to kickstart their matters, with best practices aligned to your organisational standards. This consistency not only enhances efficiency when creating a matter but also mitigates the risk of errors or discrepancies. So it's a win, win!

In the past, users were only given suggestions on what to do next when setting up matters, which made the process challenging or prone to error.

With the new matter creation wizard, we’ve streamlined and simplified the process of creating matters on Legatics. You’ll be taken through the process in a step-by-step way, eliminating guesswork and setting you up for success.

To create a matter, start from scratch or use an existing matter template. Add roles and organisations directly when setting up your matter and define participant structure in your matter before inviting anyone to join.

Right now, importing data (Excel, Word, or legal text) into Legatics is quick and easy. But we’ve made it even quicker and easier for you! Streamlining the process, lists can now be created directly from an Excel, Word or legal text file - saving you time to focus on the things that matter.

You can now connect multiple iManage accounts to Legatics for an even more seamless integration with your DMS. When transferring documents between Legatics and iManage, you can select which of your iManage servers that you'd like to use.

Read this article to learn how to add multiple iManage servers.

Small improvements

We updated the “Overview” page title to “Dashboard” so it’s more reflective of what the page is used for.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed an issue where status workflows are linked across lists. Now, workflows work independently and changes made to a status in one list, won't affect it in another.

  • Fixed an issue where having more than 26 files in a cell caused strange file numbering when you exported files to a zip file. We now continue the numbering system (eg 001AA).

  • Fixed an issue where files and comments belonging to a deleted user could not be viewed. Users (with the right permissions) are now still able to view this data.

14 February 2024

Performance improvements

We made a few small tweaks and optimisations, so you should find everything running a little bit faster.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed an issue where 2 "title" columns could be created. Now only one can!

  • Word and Excel data was importing at the top of the list. It now imports to the bottom.

  • Sometimes if your cookies expired, you got a strange warning message. Now you don't.

24 January 2024

We were lawyers once. And, as a legal process, the creation of signature packs has long been a laborious ritual. Opening each execution version, manually arranging signature pages into their own files – a tedious process that makes you question why you went to law school.

With our new signature packs feature, you can wave goodbye to the monotony

With our AI, identifying your signature pages takes seconds. Once identified, effortlessly assign parties and signatories to signature pages with a click. Concerned you've missed a signature page? No problem. Filter to just see the signature pages. Ready to go? Simply click a button and in seconds you've got perfectly formatted packs for every party and signatory.

No more painstaking rearrangements. No more late nights drowning in PDFs. No more errors. Embrace a new era in signature pack creation, where efficiency rebels against the mundane.

You may live in Word. But it's a relic of the past. You literally have to write out who is responsible for every item - a headache waiting to happen! Filtering? Not even on the table.

With our new responsibility column you can effortlessly assign participants in a click, utilize the power of filtering, and shift your focus from cumbersome data entry to the brilliance of your legal work.

In the legal world, time is your adversary. Deadlines are always approaching, and you can't go back in time (the laws of entropy make that tricky!). So the last thing you want is for those deadlines to be captured in a static Word document.

Enter our date column, challenging the very essence of static information. Everyone in your transaction can now see due dates in real time, with the added ability to swiftly filter to find impending actions. It's time to break free from the shackles of static data and make your deadlines align with the dynamic rhythm of your transactions.

Previously, users gained immediate access to the platform. This posed challenges for pre-setup tasks and ensuring an efficient matter opening

Now, with our revamped two-step user invitation process, when a user is added to a matter, they don’t get access until you invite them (unless you want to invite them instantly).

This improvement not only empowers you to maintain control over the timing of user access but also ensures a more deliberate and organized matter opening experience. We hope you enjoy it!

Bulk add users

Now, you can seamlessly add multiple users to an organisation in one go. This streamlined process eliminates the need for tedious, one-by-one additions, allowing lawyers to focus on the legal nuances of their matters and boost overall collaboration and productivity.

Invite all users in an organisation

Effortlessly invite a group with a single click! By streamlining the invitation process, you can save time, minimise oversights, and promote efficient collaboration within a user group.

Invite all users

Effortlessly invite all users with a single click! Your invitation process just got even more streamlined!

Resend invites

Is a user not logging in? Or did they miss the invite? Well, never fear. You can now push another invite to anyone who missed the initial invitation.

Removal of specify recipients

Previously, when you pushed a document to DocuSign, you appeared as the last person in the signing flow with the role "specify recipients". We did this to push the party data into the envelope, but this caused some issues for users (who had to remove themselves from the envelope) and customers (who needed to buy the feature from DocuSign).

Thankfully, these problems are a thing of the past! But, to resolve the problems, it does now mean that:

  • You can't push documents to DocuSign when a party doesn't have signatories

  • Your party data is still pushed to your envelope (into the "role" field) but now can't be edited.

You will still be added as the final person in the signing flow (with a "Needs to sign" status).

Export list as PDF

In addition to Word, you can export lists as a PDF. So you've now got a universally accessible and visually consistent format for sharing and presenting your list.

Quickly access document versions

Simply click "Version history" from the file menu and easily see the history of the document. Small but magical!

Unsupported browser screen

We used to show a small toaster if you're using an unsupported browser. We now show a page to users who visit with old or unsupported browsers, so they clearly understand that Legatics might not work as expected.

Bug fixes

  • Sometimes you got a 500 error when downloading zip files with a Word index

  • When uploading files from iManage, files sometimes didn't display until you reloaded

  • Our "Sent to DocuSign" toaster permanently remained on screen, now it doesn't

  • When importing from Excel or Word, the control buttons in the top and bottom navbars were hidden when you scrolled horizontally

22 November 2023

Improvements to managing sections and rows

We may look like a spreadsheet, but we're much more sophisticated than that.

Sure, we've got rows, columns and cells. But unlike a spreadsheet, you can have different types of columns and apply lots of permissions to those columns. And you can group rows under sections and sub-sections. And you can have more than 1 person edit the list. Take that Excel

But, if lots of people do lots of moving at the same time, the system was struggling to track all of those movements. This would result in some rows being duplicated We've now improved how our back-end manages row and section ordering, so this issue shouldn't happen anymore!

19 September 2023

Bar chart now always sums to 100%

Generally, the bar chart always summed to 100%. However, if you had lots of statuses, the rounding we used meant that the bar chart didn't always get to the 100% mark. That's now a thing of the past.

All matters admins can use import tools

Matter admin rights can be granted to anyone in a matter. But if had admin rights, but you didn't belong to the customer hosting the matter, you couldn't use the import tools. Now you can!

5 September 2023

List templates

Legatics has 40 out-of-the-box templates for every practice area. But our templates can only go so deep. That's why we're handing control over to you!

With list templates, a new role - Template Administrator - can create and manage legal knowledge in one centralised repository by:

  • Publishing and unpublishing templates

  • Tracking usage of templates

  • Tracking when templates were last updated

  • Categorising templates into practice areas or industry

  • Tagging templates, so you can classify and organise templates efficiently

Once your templates are published, your lawyers can quickly get started from them. And, to make this easier, we've dramatically improved the template selector and added searching and filtering.

iManage improvements

Better support for uploading and exporting large files or folders of files

Managing a huge list with folders of documents and need to export to iManage? This is now possible without any timeouts, thanks to some really significant technical improvement we implemented, called "subscriptions"!

Detailed error messages

Ever got a generic error on a software that doesn't help you troubleshoot? We have implemented a series of detailed error messages to help you troubleshoot without any further assistance.

20 June 2023

iManage integration

Legatics now seamlessly integrates with iManage Work (both on-premise and cloud)! By connecting iManage with Legatics, you can

  • increase productivity

  • create a seamless document management experience

  • securely transfer documents to/from Legatics

To learn about how the integration works, read this guide

We've got a detailed document setting our more technical details about how our integration works. Contact your engagement manager for a copy of it.

Signing improvements

Signing view visible without DocuSign

Our signing view was previously only visible if DocuSign was turned on. To enable the signing view to work with wet-ink documents, we needed to change that!

Now you always see the signing view, even if you don't have DocuSign turned on (and even if you do).

Change status of documents and parties/signatories

Say goodbye to manually tracking signing in a separate Word document! You can now manually change the status of documents and signatories! We've also implemented automatic actions for certain status changes, so you can work faster!

"View" and "Edit" permissions

Previously, the signing view was only accessible to the Matter Administrator. So if you wanted someone to manage signing, but not any other part of your matter, you couldn't. Also, you couldn't easily let clients or other parties see signing progress (or check that parties/signatories were correct).

These problems are no more! From your list, you can now let other users view or edit the signing view for that list. This way, signing work can be delegated to juniors while Matter Admins retain ultimate control over the matter. And progress can be easily communicated (in a self-service way).

Other improvements

  • Text changes for DocuSign documents: To improve your experience, and harmonise the DocuSign flow with non DocuSign documents, the text for the following DocuSign statues have changed:

    • Completed > Ready for download

    • Downloaded > Signed

  • Removed the file extension: This was displayed for every document (eg SPA.pdf). We have an icon for the file type, so we removed this text to clean-up the view

  • Icon for documents signed with DocuSign: To visually separate the signing method, all DocuSign signed documents have an icon (to show it was signed in DocuSign)

  • Download latest version from signing view: Just press on the file icon, and the version downloads. Magic!

File context menu

We used hover icons to display actions on files. There was no room to grow with these icons, so we've switched them out for a context menu. Hopefully it helps you visualise the actions better!

Separation of live and demo matters

Previously, your demo and live matters were mixed together. Now, you easily distinguish between them. By keeping these separate, you can avoid confusion and ensure that you're focusing on the live matters that need to complete.

New mandatory fields when creating matters

Previously, only a few of the fields in the "Create matter" window were mandatory. Now all of them are! (With the exception of "Other offices").

Visual separation of "Step" cards

When you create a matter, there are three cards "stepping out" what you could do next. These cards looked exactly like our dashboard widgets, and confused users. So we've visually separated these steps cards to improve your experience.

Clarity when you're in the "view as" mode

Our "view as" feature helps you visually see how Legatics looks to someone else. But it wasn't always easy to know when you were in the mode! So we've added a bar at the top of your screen, to make this mode very clear!

Small improvements

  • Improvements to empty screens: There were a few screens that were sub-optimal when they were empty (they just had text like "No rows"). We've improved them, to improve your experience!

  • Statuses with "No status": These showed up with "No status", but what you really need to do is select a status. So we changed the text to "Select status", and made it look like a button!

  • Size of X button on toasters: This is now much larger! Hopefully it helps you get your work done just a little bit faster.

  • Spinner when creating matters: When you created a matter, a loading spinner would appear across your "My matters" page. This was a little sub-optimal. The "Create matter" button now spins until your matter is ready!

  • Text improvements: Lots of improvements to the text throughout the platform!

Bug fixes

  • The dashboard displayed completed items first. That made it harder to see what needs to be done. So "not completed" items now come first.

  • In certain circumstances, users could remove checkboxes. Now they can't (only the matter administrator can)

  • The "status" dots in the signing view were slightly different sizes

  • The "title" column in your Word index was moving to the file column's location. Now it doesn't.

  • The Word index included in your zip download didn't have a line break between multiple files in the same row, now it does!

  • Promoting a previous version of a file crashed your page if a new version was uploading. Now you can't promote until the new version is uploaded!

  • Sometimes the audit trail didn't load, now it does.

22 March 2023

Performance improvements

Legatics 2 usage has surged recently, but increased activity slowed the system. Using this data, we identified and optimized database components to boost performance. Users should now experience faster speeds, even under heavy loads. We're committed to further improvements to ensure smooth, efficient performance.

13 March 2023

Technical improvements

The engineering team has been working on enhancing system performance. Through these improvements, we have not only reduced technical debt, but also created a more stable and reliable product. These updates also lay the foundation for future development, empowering us to build upon a stronger and more efficient codebase.

Small improvements

  • Multi-select rows using shift key: You can now select multiple rows by simply holding down the shift key. This will help to streamline workflows and improve user experience by enabling faster and more intuitive selection of data.

  • Clarity when creating demo/live matters: Our demo matters are a great way to explore Legatics' features, functionality, and capabilities. To make this clear we have:

    • put it to the top of the matter creation screen

    • required users to actively select between demo and live matters.

  • Optional consent required checkbox: A "consent obtained" checkbox used to be required to create a matter. We've made this optional.

  • Update to DocuSign: Our DocuSign integration used the XML/SIM method for data format and delivery. DocuSign is ending support for this method, so we've updated our integration to their recommend JSON/SIM configuration.

  • Text improvements: We improved lots of text throughout the platform.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed an issue where the "Save" button in matter settings stayed active without changes being made.

  • Resolved a bug preventing list creation from another list with specific column setups.

  • Status key and row colors in Word downloads now reflect only included status columns.

  • Fixed automatic status updates when quickly checking all boxes.

  • File actions no longer disappear momentarily when uploading via the sidebar.

  • Reduced duplicate warnings when changing checkbox column assignees.

  • Word download comments now display newest to oldest.

  • Corrected guest audit trail rendering for certain permissions.

  • Status assignees no longer clear when re-selecting the same status.

  • "Create account" email buttons are now fully clickable.

13 December 2022

Performance improvements

Legatics is packed with powerful features, including dashboards, 40+ templates, multiple lists, flexible columns, intuitive signing, legal text importing, and more! With this extensive functionality, the platform was starting to slow down. Recognizing the importance of speed, we've invested in key improvements to enhance performance. Legatics is now significantly faster across all areas, delivering a smoother and more efficient user experience.

Import from Word

Want to use Legatics, but hesitant about leaving behind your favourite Word checklists? Never fear! Now your Word checklists can come on your journey to transform legal transactions. Learn more about how this feature works here!

Import from Excel

Are you a lawyer who uses Excel? (We know you exist, despite what people claim). No doubt you like the power that Excel offers. But, if you are like us, you're probably tired of its complexity, the inability to upload files, and the general fear others get when you send them an Excel file.

We have the answer for you. Our digital lists are built similar to Excel, but with features designed for the modern lawyer (like dedicated file and comments columns, and intuitive signing). Learn more about how this feature works here!

Start from another list

Do you reuse Word checklists across deals? We did when we were lawyers (and it was a great way to get started!). With this feature, you'll basically be able to do that, but in Legatics! Specifically, you can create a list based off one in a previous matter or the same matter. Read this help article to learn how to get started!

Multiple DocuSign accounts

Maybe you have different DocuSign accounts for different regions. Maybe you also want to connect demo DocuSign accounts (for user testing) and your production account for live matters. Either way, all of this is now possible!

DocuSign email templates

If you have standard signing instructions and want them seamlessly applied for your lawyers, this feature solves the problem! Provide your standard template wording, when lawyers create an envelope in Legatics, your standard wording is automatically applied, ensuring they don’t have to search for instructions and consistently use the correct language.

Table of contents

Navigating a long list just got simpler! Simply press on the "hamburger" icon in your list to see the structure of the sections in your list.

Small improvements

  • Select columns to include in Word downloads: Previously, the Word download feature downloaded all data in your list. Now you have full flexibility to specify the columns you want to include in your download.

  • Word download improvements

    • File name: We used to include underscores in the file name, which was a little messy. We've tided this up. Downloads now follow this format Matter name - list name (download time) (eg Project Legatics - Documents list (5 May 2022 @ 16:42)

    • Number of items in a status: We include a "status table" in the Word download. This table now includes the numbers of items in each status and who is responsible for those items.

    • Highlighting removed on statuses: We used to highlight the text of the status (as well as colour the cell with the statuses colour). This made it harder to read the status, so we removed the highlighting.

    • Removed the name of the list: We repeated the name of the list above the table containing the list data. But everyone has the name of the list on the front-page and in the header, so it was somewhat superfluous.

  • Version numbers on files + improved file icons: You can now see what your version number in your list, and we've updated the file icons so the file type of each version is clearer!

  • Settings icon in lists: You can now use this icon to change your lists name, or find the list ID in case you need support from us.

  • Permissions modal size: We've expanded this modal, so you no longer need to scroll when setting permissions.

  • Get to permissions from list: Previously, you could only set your list permissions from the overview screen. You can now do it directly in a list, and see if the list is restricted!

  • Permissions icon on columns: Previously, you weren't always aware if columns had permissions applied. Now you will always know!

  • Permissions icons on rows and sections: Previously, you weren't always aware if rows and sections had permissions applied. Now you will always know!

  • Audit trail as a permanent navigation item: The audit trail was right next to your lists. It's now being given a dedicated home near the other matter management options

  • Files and comments timestamps: This used to specify when the file/comment was added (eg 5 days ago). We heard feedback, that people wanted the specific date the comments/file was uploaded, and that's what we have done!

  • Delete modals: Some of our delete modals had blue confirmation buttons. We've changed this so that all delete modals have red confirmation buttons!

  • 404 screen: This screen appears when a page doesn't exist (or you have a link to a page you aren't allowed to view). We've made this more user friendly!

  • 500 page: This screen appears when a page doesn't exist (or you have a link to a page you aren't allowed to view). We've made this more user friendly!

  • Increased row limitation in the legal text importer: Previously, you could only import 150 rows of text. Now you can import 500!

  • Text improvements: Throughout the platform

Bug fixes

  • You couldn't see all timezones in your account (you could only find them by searching for them). Now all timezones appears in the drop-down

  • You often got dropped out of the settings widget when making changes (like deleting a status). You now stay in one place, so you can make all of your changes

  • When searching for items, sections wouldn't expand if they were already collapsed. Now they do!

  • An error would occur if generating a closing set from a list with more than 60 rows (the closing set would be created, but still that was annoying).

  • Notifications sometimes got stuck depending on your settings. They are now unstuck.

  • Comments in the sidebar were arranged oldest > newest, but in the column were arranged newest > oldest. This inconsistency is gone. Comments always appear newest > oldest.

  • The checkbox column in your Word download wasn't capitalised, it now is

22 August 2022

Technical improvements

Since launching Legatics 2 in April 2022, we've been focused on strengthening its foundation while preparing for exciting future features. This version represents a major step in this journey with under-the-hood enhancements that improve performance and accelerate future development. While the changes may not be immediately visible, they’re an investment in making Legatics faster and more capable of delivering innovative features. Stay tuned - there’s much more to come!

Bug fixes

  • Users who logged in with SSO weren't always appearing in the users page

  • The last active date of users who logged in with SSO wasn't always updating

  • Envelope statuses weren't updating if signatories weren't added

  • Clicking the "take action" button in the dashboard didn't always filter your list

  • Navigating from an empty signing view back to the list view sometimes caused the list to crash.

  • Improving the stability of the platform when you are adding comments

  • Reloading the "Manage participants" page sometimes caused it to crash

  • Tooltips weren't being displayed for every list in the white navigation bar

  • Moving columns across a list would sometimes cause a blank space to appear

  • A number of technical bugs, that all go towards overall platform stability

12 April 2022

After extensive beta testing in 2021, we're excited to release Legatics 2 to all of our customers. Roll out will happen customer-by-customer. Your engagement manager will be in touch with next steps!

Docusign integration

When designing the DocuSign integration for Legatics, we reimagined how lawyers interact with digital signing tools. Through user feedback, we identified key challenges: DocuSign lacked the ability to specify legal entities signing documents, track signing progress by party and signatory, and easily view signing documents within lists.

With the new signing view and DocuSign integration, users can easily view all documents being signed in one place, assign parties and signatories, and seamlessly transfer documents to DocuSign.

The integration also provides real-time updates on signing progress by party and signatory, and enables users to download signed documents, including the certificate of completion and document history. This streamlined process eliminates previous frustrations, making the entire signing workflow smoother and more efficient for legal teams.

Single sign on integration

We're excited to announce the release of our Single Sign-On (SSO) feature! This enhancement allows users to log in seamlessly using their organization’s identity provider, streamlining access while improving security. SSO reduces the need for multiple passwords, ensuring a smoother, more secure experience for everyone. Enable it today to simplify user management and enhance efficiency!

Improved list templates

We launched Legatics 2 with 12 template lists to get users started. These have been enhanced to include over 30 templates grouped by practice areas.

These lists are a big part of our vision to enable you to run more of your transaction in one place. So start saying goodbye to separate Excel files and Word trackers, and hello to managing your transaction in one place.

Remember, you can have as many lists as you need, and each template can be completely customised after you create it.

Small improvements

  • Parties > Organisations: We've separated "parties" and "organisations" for clarity. Organisations now group users together and are visible across the platform, while parties are strictly the legal entities or individuals signing documents, visible only in the signing view. This distinction streamlines status assignments and permissions, and sets up future reporting on transaction participants and document signers.

  • Removal of "parties" key in Word download: To address user feedback about confidentiality, we've removed the "Parties" key from Word downloads. This table previously listed every organisation (formerly "Party") added to the matter, which caused privacy concerns. While a technical solution proved complex, this change ensures greater confidentiality for your transactions. We plan to reintroduce this feature in an improved form in a future release.

  • Improvements to matter invitation emails: We've improved invitation emails for users added to a matter. New users without a Legatics account will be prompted to create one, while existing users will be prompted to open the matter. Additionally, the email design has been enhanced to clearly specify the matter's name and the organisation inviting them.

Platform improvements

We have made significant changes to our architecture to dramatically improve performance and reliability of the platform. Everything from creating multiple lists, importing your documents, adding rows or columns to access permissions across Legatics, will be significantly quicker for a smoother experience.

Improvements to legal text importer

Headings

  • Improved detection of numbered subheadings (for example, "Section 1.1 Deliverables").

  • Fixes a bug that causes numbered subheadings to be split into two headings (for example, "Section 1.1: Conditions Precedent" was previously split into "Section 1" and "Conditions Precedent").

Clause references

  • Improved ability to relate rows to numbered headings.

  • Improved accuracy when Roman numerals are used in headings, subheadings and clauses.

  • Improved detection of clauses references.

  • Fixes a bug that causes single-word headings that end in a full stop (for example, “Jurisdiction.”) to be treated as a clause reference.

  • Fixes a bug that causes clauses with only a clause reference (i.e. with no text beside it) to be imported as text.

Rows

  • More sophisticated ability to detect trailing text.

  • Improved tidying of your imported text by removing trailing conjunctions, commas and semicolons, when appropriate.

  • Fixes a bug where introductory clauses were imported as a row, rather than as headings or subheadings (as applicable).

Bug fixes

  • Resolved an issue that blocked email notifications from sending after lists were deleted from the matter.

  • Fixed an issue that resulted in multiple email notifications being sent to the same user if a different matter administrator assigned the same status to them.

June 2021

Platform improvements

The first production version of Legatics was fast, and this version is even faster. For example, scrolling vertically and horizontally is now 2x faster. Overall, this means a better experience for users, and a better ability to manage even larger deals on Legatics!

User experience

The user experience is critical to us at Legatics. We want our platform to be simple for every lawyer to pick up, including trainees who still need to pick-up the law. So we made various improvements to further improve your experience. For example, we introduced a clear scroll bar in the list to make management and navigation of longer ones easier.

Bug fixes

A number of bugs were fixed across permissions, audit trail, statuses, files, rows, columns, parties, downloads, filtering and view as another participant. Meaning Legatics should work even smoother.

We are also now notifying users if they are using a browser that isn't supported by Legatics (we support Chrome and the latest version of Microsoft Edge).

January 2021

Release of Legatics 2

We continually source user feedback on Legatics. One thing we consistently heard was a need for flexibility and customisation. Users wanted to run more of their transaction in one place. To respond, we set about developing a new platform.

With template lists to allow for more use cases, flexible columns for customisation and a simpler user interface - we are confident that this new platform satisfies this need. In short, it is simpler, faster and has more use cases than ever before.

This version is in beta testing with a select group of customers. If you want to be included in the test group, reach out to your account manager.
